Canada School Shooting: 18-Year-Old Transgender Perpetrator, Eight Dead

A tragedy occurred in Canada where an 18-year-old, Jesse van Ruytselaar, carried out an attack at a school in Tumbler Ridge, leaving eight dead and over 20 injured.
The perpetrator, who identified as a woman, took her own life with a gun. Among the victims are her mother and half-brother.
The victims include a 39-year-old teacher, three 12-year-old girls, two 12 and 13-year-old boys, and an 11-year-old boy. Authorities initially reported nine deaths but revised the number to eight.
Police had been called to the Van Ruytselaar family home several times in the past for mental health issues and reports of weapons. Two weapons, a rifle and a pistol, were found.
Students described hearing an alarm and remaining locked in classrooms for over two hours. Police are investigating the incident.
