Intensive Inspections on Ships and Port Facilities

The Hellenic Coast Guard is intensifying inspections on ships and port facilities to enhance safety. According to the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, from January 1st to July 24th, 2025, 884 extraordinary inspections were carried out on 815 ships.

On average, more than four inspections are conducted daily by the Local Inspection Units (ΓΚΕΠ) and inspectors of the 3rd Branch of the Ministry. In 35 cases, a departure ban was imposed due to serious deficiencies.
