Weather Alert: 48-Hour Stormy Weather Front Approaching Greece

A new 48-hour period of bad weather is expected to affect Greece, bringing mud rain and African dust. According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), five regions have been placed on red alert.
Regions on Red Alert:
- Western Greece
- Epirus
- Ionian Islands (Tuesday and Wednesday)
- Eastern Macedonia-Thrace
- Peloponnese (Wednesday and Thursday)
Citizens are urged to be especially careful and limit unnecessary travel. The Civil Protection has issued recommendations for the safety of citizens and drivers.
Weather Forecast:
Heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected in most areas of the western and northeastern parts of the country from the early morning hours of Tuesday (06-01-2026) until the morning hours of Thursday (08-01-2026). The phenomena will be accompanied by local hailstorms and strong winds of 8 to 9 Beaufort.
