Six Dead as Heatwave Sweeps Southern Italy

Six people have died since last Friday in southern Italy due to the intense heatwave affecting the region, authorities have announced. The phenomenon, which meteorologists have named "Camel," has caused extreme temperatures, with the mercury exceeding 43 degrees Celsius.
The victims were found in the Salento area of Apulia, south of Bari. On Monday, a 60-year-old and an 81-year-old suffered cardiac arrest while on the beach and died.
In previous days, a 19-year-old tourist from Austria, two Italian men aged 71 and 66, and a 60-year-old Italian woman, all vacationing in the area, died. Doctors believe the deaths were caused by cardiac events related to the high temperatures.
According to weather forecasts, the heatwave is expected to begin to subside from Thursday evening. However, in some areas of southern Italy, temperatures are expected to remain higher than normal for this time of year.
