EU: New Border Control System Operational in October

A new border control system for monitoring entries into the European Union will be implemented in October, according to Bloomberg.
The Entry/Exit System (EES) will begin its phased implementation on October 12, with EU countries expected to implement it within six months. The system will record biometric data of third-country nationals.
The aim is to simplify the entry process and combat illegal entry and identity fraud. The Commission states that the implementation of EES is a significant step towards a safer border management system.
