UK Emergency Alert Test: Message to 85 Million Mobile Phones

The British government will test its new national emergency alert system on Sunday by sending a message to approximately 85 million mobile phones.
On September 7th, at 3 p.m. local time (5 p.m. Greek time), devices will sound for 10 seconds. The aim is to assess the system's readiness for extreme weather events or terrorist attacks.
The message will state: "This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a UK government service that warns you if there’s a life-threatening emergency nearby. No action is required."
All smartphones with 4G or 5G connectivity in the UK will receive the alert, except for older devices or those in airplane mode. Users can disable the alerts in their phone settings.
