213 Migrants Rescued in Gavdos and Samos

A total of 213 migrants were rescued in three separate incidents in the sea areas of Gavdos and Samos. The operations were carried out by the Hellenic Coast Guard and FRONTEX.

In Gavdos, 59 migrants were picked up by the cargo ship 'ADMIRAL DE RIBAS' south of the island. In addition, 73 migrants were found on Trypiti beach and 56 at Karave port. All the rescued were transferred to Agia Chania.

In Samos, after a chase, 25 migrants were found on the 'Megalo Seitani' coast. Two Turkish nationals were arrested as smugglers.

All migrants were transferred to temporary accommodation facilities.
