Donald Trump's threats and uncertainty within NATO are intensifying discussions about European integration. The withdrawal of US troops from Germany and increased tariffs on European cars are having a significant impact.

Canada, through Prime Minister Mark Carney, expresses its desire to deepen relations with Europe, participating in the European defense 'superfund' SAFE. Carney described Canada as the 'most European of non-European countries'.

Iceland is considering restarting accession negotiations with the EU, while Norway is closely monitoring developments. The EU currently has 27 member states and is considering new accessions, with Ukraine declaring itself 'technically fully ready'.

The expansion of the EU is considered a tool for promoting peace and security, but there is a question of balance with internal reform.
