The Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, has raised the issue of the time change again in the plenary session of the European Parliament, proposing the termination of the seasonal time change. As he mentioned, 84% of European citizens want the time change to stop twice a year.

Chrysanthos Fakas, Honorary President of the Astronomical Society of Cyprus, stated that daylight saving time is a construct for energy saving, with seven months of daylight saving time and five months of standard time.

Apostolos Tzitzikostas emphasized that the time change was established in the 1970s due to the energy crisis, but today it does not save energy and has negative effects, including health problems. He will work with the European Council to reach an agreement.
