A traffic accident in northern Egypt on Friday resulted in the deaths of 19 people, including 18 day laborers, according to state media. Two of the workers were 14 years old.

A truck collided with a minibus carrying workers from their village, Kafr al Sanabsa, in the Menoufia province, about one hundred kilometers north of Cairo, in the Nile Delta, according to the Akhbar al Youm newspaper.

According to Al Ahram, most of the workers were teenagers, including two 14-year-olds.

Local media called the victims "martyrs of work" and called for improved road safety.

The Egyptian statistics agency recorded over 5,200 road deaths in 2024.
