Thailand: Smugglers Arrested with 81 Monkeys and Drugs

In Thailand, two individuals were arrested for smuggling 81 macaque monkeys and narcotics. The arrest occurred near the Cambodian border after police discovered a truck with suspicious contents.

During the inspection, authorities found the monkeys packed in nets, along with an unknown quantity of methamphetamine. The suspects confessed that they intended to smuggle the animals into Cambodia.

The arrested individuals face charges of animal smuggling and drug trafficking. The monkeys were transferred to a wildlife sanctuary for protection.
