At least 18 civilians were killed in an attack by paramilitaries in North Kordofan, Sudan, according to the Emergency Lawyers organization. The attack took place in two villages south of the Umm Kuraidim area.

The North Kordofan region has been isolated due to heavy fighting between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the regular army. Communications are almost non-existent.

The injured were transferred to El Obeid, as there was no possibility of providing medical care on the spot. The city had been under siege for almost two years before being retaken by the army in February.

The war in Sudan, which began in April 2023, has caused a severe humanitarian crisis, with tens of thousands dead and millions displaced. Both sides are accused of targeted attacks against civilians and obstruction of humanitarian aid. In addition, Sudan is facing a collapse of the health system and a cholera epidemic.
