Nepal: Parliament Set Ablaze Amid Protests – 19 Dead

Severe unrest has erupted in Nepal, culminating in the parliament being set ablaze and at least 19 deaths. Anti-government protests escalated following the resignation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, after demonstrations against the blocking of social media and corruption.
Hundreds of protesters stormed the parliament in Kathmandu and set fire to the building. According to Reuters, young people entered the parliament complex raising their hands in the air and chanting slogans.
Politicians were evacuated from the area, while Kathmandu airport was closed. Protesters burned down the house of former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, resulting in the death of his wife. Police opened fire on protesters, causing at least 19 fatalities.
The President of Nepal has called for national unity and a peaceful resolution to the crisis. Oli resigned, stating his desire for a political solution.
