Mexico: Unrest After 'El Mencho' Death - Military Deployed, Extraditions to US

Tensions are high in Mexico following the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as 'El Mencho,' leader of the CJNG cartel. The government has deployed 10,000 soldiers to address the unrest.
'El Mencho' was located in the state of Jalisco and killed during an operation by the Mexican army. According to Defense Minister Ricardo Trevilla, a heavy exchange of fire ensued. News of his death triggered a wave of violence in 20 states, with roadblocks and arson.
The State Department issued a warning to American citizens, and airlines suspended flights to Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara. Simultaneously, the Mexican government has extradited approximately 100 cartel members to the US, including 'El Mencho's' brother, Antonio Oseguera Cervantes.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that Washington is determined to destroy the cartels.
