DR Congo: At Least 43 Killed in Islamist Rebel Attack

At least 43 people have been killed in an attack by rebels from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), linked to Islamic State, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The attack occurred in the Bafwakoa community of the Ituri province, according to Lieutenant Jules Tsikundi Ngongo.
Local officials reported that at least 35 people were killed in the attack. The ADF, which began as a rebel movement in Uganda, has been based in the forests of the DR Congo since the late 1990s and is recognized by Islamic State as its affiliate.
The ADF attacks are not related to the clashes between the DR Congo army and the rebels of the M23 movement.
