Istanbul: 7-Story Building Collapses, Two Children Dead

A 7-story building collapsed in the Gebze area of Istanbul, resulting in the death of two children. The moment of the collapse was captured by a security camera.

According to Turkish media, the building collapsed around 7:30 AM in the Mevlana Mahallesi area. Rescuers pulled an 18-year-old girl alive from the rubble, while her two younger siblings were found dead.

Turkish Deputy Interior Minister Mehmet Aktas confirmed the rescue of 18-year-old Dilara and the death of Hayrunisa. Searches are continuing to locate the parents.

Security camera footage shows the building tilting and collapsing in a matter of seconds, as passersby run for safety.
