At least nine people have been killed in an attack attributed to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the Oicha community, in the eastern part of the DR Congo.

On the night of Saturday to Sunday, rebels attacked civilians, looted shops and set houses on fire, according to testimonies.

Isaac Kavalambi, president of the local civil society, said that the ADF killed eight civilians and one police officer during the raid.

Captain Marc Elongo, spokesman for the armed forces, accused the "ADF terrorists" of the attack. The ADF reportedly pledged allegiance to Islamic State in 2019.

The Oicha community is located approximately 30 kilometers north of Beni, the command center of the DR Congo army in the province of North Kivu.
