Congo: At Least 43 Killed in Islamist Rebel Attack

At least 43 people have been killed in an attack by rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), linked to the Islamic State, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The attack took place in the Bafwakoua community of Ituri province. Lieutenant Jules Tsikundi Ngongo, a spokesperson for the military administration, confirmed the news.
The ADF, which began as a rebel movement in Uganda, is now based in Congo and recognized as an affiliate of the Islamic State. The armed forces of the DRC and Uganda are conducting operations against them.
The ADF attacks are not related to the clashes between the DRC army and the M23 rebel movement.
