Colombia: Cocaine Lab Explosion – Nine Dead

An explosion at an illegal cocaine production lab in southwestern Colombia, near the border with Ecuador, has killed nine people and injured eight others, local authorities announced.
The deadly explosion occurred “in the early hours of January 23,” police chief John Jairo Urea Rosso announced. According to findings, a gas cylinder exploded during the drug manufacturing process.
The illegal laboratory was located in an indigenous community in the Nariño department, an area with large coca crops and a significant presence of rebels. The victims worked for a dissident faction of the former FARC.
