Solo traveling is emerging as a growing trend in tourism, representing a conscious choice of autonomy and personal exploration.

According to a booking.com survey, 72% of travelers plan a solo trip within the next year. Konstantinos Sergopoulos, Associate Professor at the Department of Tourism Management of the University of West Attica (PADA), points out that solo travelers are often women over 47 years old, seeking freedom, independence, and mental empowerment.

Greece and Europe in general, are among the top destinations for solo travelers, due to their hospitality, safety, and cultural wealth.

Konstantinos Marinakos, Vice President of POX and Associate Professor of Tourism Management at PADA, emphasizes that solo travelers are no longer just young backpackers, but a category of tourists with higher financial capabilities and specific needs.

Maria Kofou, a freelance Editor and Travel Content Creator with experience in over 80 countries, shares her personal experience, emphasizing the sense of freedom and autonomy that solo traveling offers.

There is also a growing community of solo travelers who travel in groups, such as the community created by Giorgos Vasiliadis on social media, offering security and autonomy to participants.
