Mallorca: 'Secret' Caló des Moro Beach Overrun with Trash

Caló des Moro beach in Mallorca, once known for its crystal-clear waters, has been transformed into a garbage dump due to mass tourism and overexposure on social media.
Formerly a hidden paradise, the beach is now overrun with tourists and Instagrammers, resulting in accumulated trash and environmental degradation. The situation was worsened by local authorities promoting the beach to content creators, leading to over 1,300 videos on TikTok and millions of views.
The Daily Mail reports that tourists queue to find a spot on the beach, while garbage is everywhere. Additionally, it is estimated that 70 kilograms of sand are removed from the beach daily by visitors, leading to a loss of six tons of sand every three months.
Residents, angered by overtourism, protested in June demanding the reclamation of the beach.
