John Logie Baird: A Century Since the First Television Image
Share on:

On October 2, 1925, Scottish inventor John Logie Baird succeeded in transmitting the first moving image of a human face, marking the birth of television.

William Taynton, an office clerk, became the first person to appear on television, receiving half a crown for this historic moment.

Baird, without academic training, worked with makeshift materials to create the first television device. The first image was transmitted in his laboratory in Soho, London.

Baird's contribution paved the way for the evolution of television, culminating in the viewing of the first moon landing by millions of people worldwide.
