Robot Dogs for Food Delivery: Pilot Program in Zurich

A Dutch food delivery company, in collaboration with Swiss company RIVR, plans to use robot dogs with wheels and artificial intelligence for food delivery. The first city to test the service is Zurich.
The hybrid delivery robots will start with the local restaurant Zekis World. The pilot program is a collaboration between Just Eat Takeaway.com and RIVR.
The robots can avoid obstacles and recognize pedestrians, while reaching speeds of up to 15 km/h. They are equipped to withstand various weather conditions and have a locking mechanism for secure delivery.
Just Eat Takeaway.com plans to expand the use of robotic deliveries to other European cities, as well as retail stores.
