Meta: New tools to detect fraud on social media

Meta has announced that it is enhancing its fraud detection tools on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger, aiming to protect users from sophisticated scams.
On Facebook, new notifications are being tested for suspicious friend requests. On WhatsApp, alerts are activated for device linking. On Messenger, fraud detection is being expanded to more countries, with notifications for suspicious job offers.
Meta removed 159 million malicious ads and 10.9 million accounts linked to fraud. The goal is that by 2026, 90% of advertising revenue will come from verified advertisers.
Although Meta has made progress, user vigilance remains essential.
