Meta to Cut 600 AI Division Jobs

Meta (Facebook, Instagram) has decided to eliminate approximately 600 positions in its Artificial Intelligence (AI) division as part of streamlining operations following a hiring spree.
According to reports in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, Meta's management aims to reduce "organizational bloat." Many of the affected employees will be offered the opportunity to move to other departments within the company.
Alexandre Wang, Meta's AI general manager, stated in an internal memo that these cuts will improve the decision-making process. Meta has not issued an immediate comment.
Mark Zuckerberg's group is making significant investments in AI, seeking to compete in the race for "superintelligence." In September, Meta unveiled connected glasses with a built-in display and AI capabilities.
Additionally, Meta announced the creation of an organization in California to fund candidates who support less strict AI regulation.
