Geoffrey Hinton: "Motherly Instincts" in AI for Survival

Geoffrey Hinton, known as the "godfather" of Artificial Intelligence, warns about the dangers of superintelligent systems and proposes a unique solution for humanity's survival.

In an interview, Hinton likened the development of AI to raising a tiger, emphasizing that AI will surpass human intelligence within the next two decades. He believes that efforts to limit AI by companies will not be effective.

The solution proposed by Hinton, speaking at the Ai4 conference in Las Vegas, is to incorporate "motherly instincts" into AI systems, so that they care about humanity. As he explained, the mother-infant relationship is the only example where a smarter being submits to a less intelligent one.

According to Hinton, superintelligent machines will quickly acquire two basic goals: to maintain their existence and to gain more control. If they do not have instinctive care for humans, the survival of humanity will be at risk.
