Gen Z and Corporate Secrets: Fears of Social Media Leaks

Companies in the US are expressing concerns about hiring Gen Z individuals, fearing leaks of corporate secrets on social media for likes and recognition. A survey by PasswordManager.com reveals that nearly half of business leaders believe Gen Z employees may disclose confidential information.
The survey, based on responses from 1,000 US business leaders, shows that 52% are concerned about the security risks associated with Gen Z. 47% believe that employees of this generation may intentionally leak secrets online. Examples include leaks of customer data via TikTok videos and sharing information before official product releases.
Gunnar Kalstrom, a cybersecurity expert, emphasizes the lack of clear policies and training regarding sensitive information. 18% of business leaders have already experienced leaks from Gen Z employees, with consequences such as reputational damage and financial losses.
Approximately one-third of companies avoid hiring Gen Z individuals due to security concerns. Companies are responding by strengthening confidentiality training, but effective education and clear policies are needed to address the problem.
