Kougioumtzian: Strong finish in Slalom at the Winter Olympics

Yiannos Kougioumtzian completed his effort in the Slalom at the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, finishing in 34th place. The games were held at the Stelvio Ski Centre in Bormio.

Out of the 96 athletes who started, only 39 completed both runs, highlighting the difficulty of the event. In his first run, Kougioumtzian recorded a time of 1:10.88, while he improved his performance in the second run.

After the finish, Yiannos Kougioumtzian stated: "It was a very difficult race. I am very happy and thank the Cyprus Olympic Committee, the Federation, my family and my friends for their support."

The 29-year-old athlete's participation concludes on a positive note, in his second consecutive Olympic appearance. The Cyprus Olympic Committee will continue its presence in Alpine Skiing with Andrea Loizidou.
