Turkey: 14 Footballers Arrested in Illegal Betting Scandal

A new wave of arrests in Turkey in connection with the illegal betting scandal, with 14 footballers added to the list of those detained. In total, 29 people have been arrested, including a former senior executive of Galatasaray and the vice-president of Eyüpspor.
Authorities identified suspicious financial transactions linked to betting accounts and Turkish league matches. The investigation was based on bank records, data from legal betting companies, and telecommunications analysis.
According to the findings, some of those involved allegedly bet on their own teams' matches, potentially influencing the outcome. The names of those arrested were released by a Turkish journalist via 'X'.
