Sporting CP coach, Rui Borges, confirmed the club's interest in Panathinaikos player, Fotis Ioannidis. In his statements, Borges mentioned that Ioannidis has been a target for the team for a long time, even before his arrival on the Sporting bench.

According to reports in Portugal, Fotis Ioannidis is the main candidate to strengthen Sporting CP's attacking line. "A Bola" reported that the Greek striker is back on the "lions'" radar a year later.
