Panathinaikos in Talks with Mark van Bommel for Coaching Position

Panathinaikos is in discussions with Mark van Bommel for the coaching position, according to Gazzetta sources. The 48-year-old Dutch coach is currently free after his collaboration with Antwerp ended in the summer of 2024.

Van Bommel, born in Maasbracht, Netherlands, had a great career as a football player, playing for teams such as PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Milan. He was also a key member of the Dutch national team with 79 appearances and 10 goals.

After the end of his football career, he started his coaching career with the Netherlands U17 team and later served as an assistant coach for the Saudi Arabian national team. He then worked as a coach for PSV Eindhoven's U19 team and PSV Eindhoven's first team.

In July 2021, he took over Wolfsburg, and in the summer of 2022, he signed with Antwerp, where he won the league and the cup in his first season (2022-2023).
