Nikolic: "Stay Grounded – We Have a Lead, But It's Not Big"

Marko Nikolic, after AEK's 1-0 victory over Olympiacos in the Super League playoff opener, urged his team to stay grounded. In statements to Cosmote TV, he stressed that the victory is important, but the lead is not large.

"Congratulations to my players. We came for the result and we got it. We neutralized Olympiacos' strengths. We had a good image in defense," Nikolic said.

Asked about the rest of the championship, he said: "We have a five-point difference, we can't say we don't have a lead, but it's not big. We need to stay grounded and continue the effort. From tomorrow we have to prepare for the next game."

Finally, he referred to the players' reaction in the locker room: "I'm happy with what I saw in the locker room. Everyone was smiling, but no one celebrated wildly. We are grounded after this important victory."
