Bologna: Stadium Dispute – City Council Resists New Construction

Tensions are rising in Bologna over the stadium issue. Bologna FC wants to build a new stadium, but the city council appears unresponsive. Furthermore, the renovation plans for the «Renato Dall'Ara» have been put on hold due to rising costs.

Bologna's CEO, Claudio Fenucci, has called for a «re-evaluation of the stadium strategy.» However, the municipality does not seem to be considering an alternative plan for the construction of a new stadium.

Deputy Mayor for Sports, Roberta Li Calzi, stated that in September the Municipality will assess the possibility of the city's candidacy to host Euro 2032, which will be held in Italy and Turkey.

She added that they are awaiting the final submission of the economic and financial plan for the renovation proposal submitted by the team.
