Fabio Capello Criticizes Italian Defenders

Fabio Capello has strongly criticized Italian defenders following Italy's failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The former Milan coach emphasized that Italian defenders do not have the necessary level to meet the demands.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Capello referred to Bastoni, who was sent off, and Riccardo Calafiori of Arsenal, saying they show a greater inclination for offense than defense. Capello added that Italian defenders are good at advancing the team, but lack defensive ability, which cost the team dearly.

Following the exclusion, Gattuso, Buffon, and Gabriele Gravina resigned, and other changes are expected in the team.
