AEK Athens has expressed strong protests regarding disallowed goals by João Mário and Jović in their match against OFI Crete, which ended 1-0 in favor of AEK. According to the club, referee Tsakalidis and VAR official Tzilos wrongly disallowed two legitimate goals.

AEK's statement emphasizes that "AEK defeated OFI 1-0 at the Pankritio Stadium, in the match of the 10th round of the STOIXIMAN Super League 2025-26. Orbelín Pineda scored the winning goal in the 74th minute. AEK should have scored much earlier, but missed great opportunities, while referee Tsakalidis and VAR official Tzilos did not count two legitimate goals from João Mário and Jović."
