Boxer Accused of Being Male Wins by Knockout

Boxer Lin Yu-ting defeated her 19-year-old opponent by knockout in 49 seconds. The athlete has faced accusations of being male.

Lin Yu-ting, an Olympian from Paris, was excluded from the World Championship last year after failing a gender eligibility test. Although her passport states she is female, in 2023 the International Boxing Association (IBA) reported that she has XY chromosomes.

Experts note that there are rare intersex conditions that can lead to individuals with a female appearance having male chromosomes.
