Trinchieri on Partizan: "I didn't really say no"

Andrea Trinchieri, in statements to Serbian media, revealed that he did not directly reject Partizan's offer after Željko Obradović's departure.

The Italian coach explained that he respected Obradović and the already tense atmosphere in the team.

"On the one hand, there is love for Partizan, on the other hand, respect for Obradović as a person and as a coach. And I immediately said to myself 'no, I can't and I don't want to!'", Trinchieri emphasized.

Furthermore, he stated that he did not want to get involved in a toxic environment, invoking Friedrich Nietzsche: "When you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you."

Ultimately, Partizan hired Joan Penarroya.
