The 24-year-old athlete, whom Usain Bolt has described as his likely successor, set a new personal best in the race. Kishane Thompson finished second with 9.82, and Noah Lyles finished third with 9.89.
Letsile Tebogo from Botswana was disqualified due to a false start. Usain Bolt watched the race from the stands.
Seville celebrated his victory enthusiastically, and Bolt has stated that he believes Seville will break his world record in the 100 meters.
