Harvey Weinstein, speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, described his detention conditions in the Rikers Island high-security prison as "hell." The 73-year-old, who is confined to a wheelchair, claims he is isolated and threatened by fellow inmates.

Weinstein reported being attacked by a fellow inmate while waiting to use the phone. "I asked the guy in front of me if he was done. He got angry and punched me in the face. I fell to the floor and was bleeding," he said.

The convicted sex offender expressed nostalgia for the state prison where he was previously held, where, he says, he had the opportunity to socialize with other inmates. At Rikers, he claims his celebrity forces him to isolate himself for his own safety.

In June 2025, Weinstein was found guilty of a sexual offense related to a 2006 incident with Miriam Haley. He was also convicted of rape in California in 2022 and is serving a 16-year prison sentence.
