Jamie Lee Curtis has expressed her gratitude to her mother, Janet Leigh, for not allowing her to audition for a role in 'The Exorcist' at the age of 12.

In an interview on 'The Drew Barrymore Show', Curtis revealed that producer Ray Stark had suggested to Janet Leigh that her daughter audition for the role of Regan MacNeil. However, Janet Leigh refused, wishing to protect her daughter's childhood from such a dark and demanding experience.

Jamie Lee Curtis emphasized that her mother's decision was crucial for her life and career. Ultimately, the role of Regan was played by Linda Blair.

Curtis made her film debut a few years later and became known in 1978 with the film 'Halloween'.
