Tom Ford: 'The Moment I Found My Husband Dead'

Designer Tom Ford described the moment he found his husband, Richard Buckley, dead in 2021 at the age of 73. Speaking on the podcast 'This Life of Mine with James Corden,' Ford said the memory haunts him.

Richard Buckley and Tom Ford were a couple for 35 years and married in 2014. They met in 1986 and had a son, Jack, through a surrogate mother.

'It's etched so clearly in my mind,' Ford said. 'He died very suddenly and unexpectedly. We were watching TV, he left the room, went upstairs, collapsed, and I went into the bathroom.'

He initially thought his husband had fainted due to health problems he was facing. 'I went upstairs and his eyes were open, with an expression on his face, absolutely frozen. I immediately realized he was dead.'

Tom Ford stated that after Buckley's death, his son is the reason he continues to live.
