Celine Dion: The Reason She Didn't Appear at Eurovision 2025

Celine Dion did not appear on the stage of Eurovision 2025 due to health issues, according to foreign media reports. The 57-year-old singer, who won the competition for Switzerland in 1988, appeared via video during the first semi-final.

Dion confirmed that she was scheduled to appear at the contest, but a health problem prevented her. According to the “Mirror”, in the new documentary celebrating the 30th anniversary of her album “D’eux”, she reveals that she was in Basel, but was forced to withdraw at the last minute.

During the first semi-final, Celine Dion stated: “Dear Eurovision family and contestants. I would want nothing more than to be with you in Basel right now. Switzerland will always have a special place in my heart. My victory in 1988 was a life-changing moment.”

Fans speculated that she would appear when her private jet was spotted in Basel. Eurovision director Martin Green CBE hinted at her presence. However, Dion neither appeared nor attended the final.

The French website “Le Parisien” reported that she was supposed to sing “Ne Partez Pas Sans Mo”. Upon arriving at the venue, she suffered a crisis and withdrew.

Celine Dion revealed in December 2022 that she has Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare autoimmune neurological disorder, which she had been secretly battling for nearly two decades.
