Actor Brad Pitt is mourning the loss of his mother, Jane Etta Pitt, who passed away at the age of 84 on Tuesday, August 5th.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Jane Etta Pitt was a school counselor. She married William Pitt in 1962 and moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she raised Brad and his siblings, Doug and Julie.

The news of her death was announced by the actor's niece, Sydney Pitt, via Instagram, who described her grandmother as a source of love and energy.

In 2009, Brad Pitt and his siblings donated $1 million to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, inaugurating the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center.
