Nicolas Cage in Talks for Lead Role in 'True Detective' Season 5

Nicolas Cage is in discussions to star in the fifth season of HBO's popular series 'True Detective.' According to 'Variety,' the actor is close to a deal.
Details about the new season are scarce, but it has been leaked that the story will take place in the Jamaica Bay area of New York City.
Cage would be the latest big name to join the series, following Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Mahershala Ali, and Jodie Foster. Many of these actors have received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for their performances.
If confirmed, this would be Cage's second television starring role. He is also set to play Spider-Man Noir in a live-action series for MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video, expected to premiere in 2026.
Cage won an Academy Award for Best Actor for 'Leaving Las Vegas.' He is also known for films such as 'Moonstruck,' 'Raising Arizona,' 'Face/Off,' 'National Treasure,' and 'Ghost Rider.'
Season 5 of 'True Detective' was renewed in February 2024. Issa López returns as writer and showrunner.
