Russia Plans Nuclear Power Plant on the Moon by 2036

Russia plans to construct a nuclear power plant on the Moon within the next decade to power its lunar space program and a joint Russian-Chinese research station.
The Russian state space agency, Roscosmos, announced plans to build a lunar power plant by 2036 and signed a contract with the Lavochkin Association for this purpose.
Roscosmos stated that the plant's goal is to provide energy for Russia's lunar program, which includes rovers, an observatory, and infrastructure for the joint Russian-Chinese International Lunar Research Station.
Roscosmos head Dmitry Bakanov stated in June that one of the company's goals is to place a nuclear power plant on the Moon and explore Venus.
