Total Solar Eclipse 2027: The Spectacle of the Century

On August 2, 2027, a total solar eclipse will cross North Africa, offering a rare spectacle with almost guaranteed clear skies. This eclipse will be the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century, lasting six minutes and 23 seconds.
The phenomenon will be visible from North Africa and parts of Southern Europe, including Gibraltar. The best viewing point will be Luxor, Egypt, where the eclipse will last the longest.
The 2027 eclipse comes a lunar year after the total eclipse on August 12, 2026, and shortly before the Perseid meteor shower. The longest possible total eclipse is 7 minutes and 31 seconds, making the 2027 eclipse particularly impressive.
