Scientists in Argentina have discovered a new species of dinosaur belonging to the megaraptor group. The creature, named Joaquinraptor Casali, was approximately 7 meters long and fed on the bones of ancient crocodiles.

The fossils, including part of the skull, hand, foot, and tail bones, were found in the Koluel Kaike Formation in Patagonia. Researchers observed unique characteristics in the bones, indicating a new species.

Joaquinraptor Casali lived 66 to 70 million years ago, close to the time when dinosaurs became extinct. According to Federico Agnolin, this discovery fills a significant gap in dinosaur skeletal findings.

Lucio Ibiricu, a member of the discovery team, named the new species in honor of his son, Joaquin.
