NASA Aims to Install Nuclear Reactor on the Moon by 2030

NASA aims to install the first nuclear reactor on the Moon by 2030 as part of the 'Artemis' program. The goal is a permanent human presence and preparation for missions to Mars.
Acting NASA Administrator, Sean Duffy, emphasized the importance of nuclear energy for establishing a base on the Moon, especially due to periods of darkness.
NASA seeks to be the first to reach areas with ice and sunlight, as the installation of a reactor by another country could create an exclusion zone. However, NASA's plans come during a period of budget cuts.
