Delphi-2: AI predicts diseases like Alzheimer's and cancer
Share on:

Scientists are developing an AI model, Delphi-2, capable of predicting over 1,000 different diseases, including Alzheimer's, cancer, and heart attacks. The model, inspired by large language models (LLMs), was developed by the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the German Cancer Research Center.

The research, published in the journal Nature, describes how Delphi-2 can identify high-risk patients and help health authorities allocate resources. The model was trained on data from 400,000 people from the UK Biobank and tested on data from 1.9 million Danes.

Ewan Birney, a geneticist at EMBL, stated that the capabilities of Delphi-2 are exciting.

Delphi-2 will undergo rigorous testing to assess the improvement of patient outcomes.
