Mandatory Referral to Cardiologist via Personal Doctor

The Ministry of Health is establishing mandatory referrals from the Personal Doctor to specialists such as cardiologists and pulmonologists. This regulation is being implemented even though a large percentage of citizens have not registered in the system.

The amendment, which was voted in Parliament, reinstates the gatekeeping system, which had been temporarily abandoned due to the non-universal registration of citizens with personal doctors. According to ygeiamou.gr, four in ten adults have not yet registered.
